5 Stars. I cannot forget the haunting and heart breaking performance of the two leads. It is a sad commentary on the state of our world`s supposed moral intolerance that we are sickened by the love between two people. Why aren`t we equally repulsed by the brutality of sending our youth to war or watch them kill one another in our streets. Should we not rejoice that FINALLY our culture can be accepting of unconditional love and acknowledge how far we have come- but then again, we have a long distance I fear to go.

A friend and I see almost every movie that comes out. Generally if the critics rave over it, we find it so-so. I just couldn`t figure out why anyone would gush over this movie. My friend fell asleep. I kept wondering, is it going to get good soon? It just didn`t. The saving grace was the beautiful scenery. People say this is a tender love story. I didn`t see much tenderness. It was just rough and crude, disgusting and pathetic. It would be a real shame if a movie like this would win awards.

This is a GREAT movie....those that are born w/ `permanent` blinders on will not get it..but then they never will. Powerful love story, it coincidentally happens to be between two men....how very brave of Ang Lee to bring it to the screen. Genius needs no explanations...

This is a beautiful film of a beautiful love story. Personally, I want to see more great gay and lesbian movies with great story lines. Come on writers, directors, film makers out there-give me more, whether it maybe independant or hollywoodish. Bring it on! I`m tired of B-movie crappy scripts with pour acting that stereotype gay and lesbian lives. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN was a wonderful, loving ride through great love story. Thank You...

I go to several movies a week. Most disappoint me. This is the best movie that I have seen in years. It was real , raw , and superbly honest . Ennis` struggle with himself was increadibly haunting and will stay with me for a long time. I was amazed that two heterosexual men could carry these roles off so well. I saw Casanova the same day, and left thinking that Heath Ledger couldn`t act his way out of a paper bag...then I saw Brokeback Mountain. They both deserve recognition for these risky roles. Five stars, hands down ,from a tough critic.
