I went in with high hopes, but came out deflated.
The Odyssey is epic in scope, yet it never found an emotional core through its characters. Many scenes lingered far longer than necessary, while the dialogue was frequently drowned out by bombastic sound mixing. Events unfolded without enough dramatic tension, leaving little fear of the unknown or anticipation of what lay ahead. The world-building felt uneven, never fully capturing the wonder and adventure the story seemed to promise. I truly wanted to love this film, but its pacing, storytelling, and emotional distance left me feeling like a spectator rather than a participant in the journey.

Chis Nolan has scored another top notch movie. I love them all but Oppenheimer and Odyssey are by far the best in my opinion. I went to an early showing today 7/19. As I looked around the theater I saw ages ranging from teens to the elderly, as am I. Everyone was rapt, no one on their phones. Anyone can find things wrong with a movie, and that’s our right. But we should celebrate chris Nolan’s efforts at bringing us high caliber movies. Bravo!

Not bad. Not great either. Just a nice way to spend Saturday afternoon. Can't go wrong with Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway although I'm reminded of old Hollywood pairing Taylor and Burton. It's a little silly expecting the queen to have dozens of suitors at bay for 20 years and suddenly she decides to hold a contest where everyone is Kung Fu fighting with spears dropped through a hole. But hey... $10 wasn't bad.
