The House Of Mirth Overview

Set in New York at the turn of the century against a backdrop of wealth and social hypocrisy, Lily Bart (Anderson) has been brought up to be ornamental, but refuses to play by the rules of society. Her spunk, coupled with numerous assaults by vicious society women and bad luck, results in a violent fall from a beautiful woman at the height of her power to a fired milliner's assistant addicted to sleeping drugs.

Based on the book of the same name by Edith Wharton.
